New Years Mani!!!

Hey guys!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Well, almost.. :) Anyways.. I think 2012 was a great year for me. I started doing nails which led to an Instagram (polishedbyrachel) and then a blog!!! I know I have improved greatly in the world of nails, and throughout 2013, I hope to improve even more!!

Now for the nails!! I spent forever trying to figure out what I was going to do for this manicure. I finally came up with something! It is really simple but I think it is wearable.. nothing too over the top.

First of all, sorry for the glare, they are so shiny!!!! Now onto the colors!
Black: Wet n Wild- Black Creme
Silver: Sally Hansen- Celeb City
Glitter- for the thumb I used Essie- Set in Stones and for other tips I just used loose glitter, which can be purchased at any craft store or Walmart.

As a "New Years Resolution" per se, I am going to try my best to be more efficient in blogging and making more quality posts. I have a comparison post bubbling up in my head and I have massive amounts of unused polish that can and needs to be used!! What are your New Years Resolutions??

I hope everyone had a great night and be safe!!!

Christmas Tree!

Hey gals!
I am so ready for Christmas this year! Even though life is going by in a flash, I found time to do some holiday inspired nail art!! For this look I used 9 different polishes!! I will list the polishes for the tree on down in this post, but for the rest of my hand, I'll tell you now :) I used Sephora by O.P.I. And a Cherry on Top as a base, and Merry Me as a glitter topper. Both of these were in the Tinseltown set that came out this year. Now for pictures!!

Isn't it pretty? I sure do love it! The tree was also done freehanded :) Here comes the list of polishes!!

Base- China Glaze Fairy Dust
Tree base- Sinful Colors Snow Me White
Tree- Sinful Colors Irish Green
Glitters- Pure Ice- Beware
Sephora by O.P.I- Only Gold For Me Top Coat
              Essie- Stroke of Brilliance
                         Set in Stones

The red star is from a glitter wheel that I picked up at Claire's.

Cheesy pose with an ornament :p
Enjoy!!!

Liquid Sky Lacquer!

Hello all! Onto the good stuff! Today I am wearing 3, 2, 1 Happy New Year! I got this polish from Carolyn's etsy during her black friday sale. I absolutely love this polish! Suspended within a clear base are chunky sliver holographic hex glitters and multi colored hexes that range from medium to small hexes. For this manicure, I have layered this over Color Club Blue-Ming.

Now tell me that isn't gorgeous!! I received many compliment while wearing this!!

I love this bottle shot!!! It looks absolutely amazing!!

I hope you enjoyed this post, and thanks for reading!!

Wet n' Wild- Sugar Coat

Hello!!

Today I have a very pretty elegant color for you. I absolutely love Sugar Coat. It is very pretty on it's own, but is also great for jelly sandwiches!! And.. if you don't know what a jelly sandwich is, or if you don't know how to achieve the look, click here and here to watch a few videos on this technique. Sam from PackAPunchPolish does a great job explaining these things!! Ok, let's get onto the polish!!

I absolutely love this polish!! It is a creamy colored light pink. Fabulous! Here I have 3 coats with a top coat. Did I mention that I liked this polish?!?! Application was great and I really like the brush. I think it is safe to say that I am pleased with this polish!

Orly- Stone Cold

Hi all!!

Omygosh.. it has been FOREVER since I have posted. I'm so sorry!! I have been soo busy lately and day light savings time is kind of getting in the way :p Ok, how about we get onto the polish!

I absolutely LOVE this color! This is Orly Stone Cold. I just don't even have the words to describe this color!! This blue is amazing!

Here I have 2 coats and a topcoat. I thought it was easy to work with, although this polish stains like crazyyyy. That was a little aggravating. Other than that I have no complaints!

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed!!

Halloween Nails - Candy Corn Gradient!!

Hey dolls!

So I am so excited to share these candy corn nails with you today! I have to say fall is my favorite season of the year, and I just love all the little pleasures within!! I looovee candles, colored leaves, dressing up for Halloween, and of course candy corn!!

I hate trying new nail art because I'm kind of a perfectionist, and I don't like messing up!! I was really happy that these turned out good!! I hope you think so too!!

Onto what I used:
2 coats of Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in White On as a base. Then I sponged on Orly Crush On You and Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in Mellow Yellow. Then to top it off I added one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!!

Disney Villains Designer Collection- 6 Piece Polish Set// Swatches

Hey dolls!!
So today I am very excited to share with you the Disney Villains Nail Polish Set!! I received this set as a gift from someone, and I am soooo glad that i was able to get my hands on it!! These polishes are very very unique!!

Each polish is based on one of six Disney villains. With it being "villains themed" these polishes are somewhat dark, but that is ok with me!

I was happy with the wear time of the polishes, although there is usually one or two things that is not so like-able about a polish. In this case, some - not all - but some of these polishes were somewhat goopy and thick. Maybe some nail polish thinner could fix these problems, but right now I currently do not own a bottle of thinner :( Anyways, overall I was happy with these!!

Now onto the swatches!!

First up we have Cruella De Vil. Cruella was in 101 Dalmations. Of course there is only one color to capture her, red of course!!! I really like this creamy red!! This was one of the polishes out of the set that was easier to work with!! :)

Next we have Evil Queen. The Evil Queen played in Snow White. I really like this one. It is a black base with purple and red reflex glitter within. Unfortunately, this was probably one of the thicker polishes that wasn't so easy to work with.

Do you see those glitters?!?!!

Maleficent is probably my favorite polish from this set. I am absolutely in love!!! Maleficent stars in the Disney film Sleeping Beauty. This teal polish is sooo pretty!! It sort of has a blue/green/teal shift in it. I'm in love!!

Mother Gothel comes next in line. Mother Gothel was in Tangled. I think this polish captures her well.  It is a dark red jelly. It is great for the fall season too! This polish was also easy to work with.

Now we have Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts was in Alice in Wonderland. I'm not sure what I think of this polish.. but I think it's ok. It is a gold polish with gold glitters within. What do you think?

And lastly, we have Ursula. Ursula was in The Little Mermaid. Though this polish is pretty, it is a bit streaky and bubbly. :( It is a light purple with almost silver colored glitters suspended throughout. Like Queen of Hearts, I'm just not sure about this one. Haha and sorry about the awkward handpose :P

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to stop by and read this!! :))

Breast Cancer Awareness Oct. 2012 - Pink Nails

Hey lovelies!! Today I have a special post. Since it is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I've decided to do a few pink manis this month, and am sharing one with you today! I know a couple of women that have dealt with breast cancer, and have overcome it. They are now two very strong women, even though it can still be tough.

Anyways... today's mani consists of two pink polishes, of course! The colors I used are OPI If You Moust You Moust and Sally Hansen X-Treme Wear in Strobe Light.

If You Moust You Moust
is just an absolutely gorgeous pink! It is a rich and creamy Barbie pink. I love it!! Strobe Light is also gorgeous!! I just love all the holo bits of glitter within the pink glitter!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!!

Sally Hansen - Plum Luck

Hey guys!! Sorry it has been so long since my last post!! Anyways, I recently picked up Plum Luck by Sally Hansen at Walgreens, and it is just the perfect fall shade!! This is a Complete Salon Manicure, which are normally 8 bucks, but I found mine for $1.87 while it was on closeout at my local Walgreens!! What a deal! This is just the prettiest color ever!! I can't stop staring at my nails!!

Plum Luck is a dark creme purple that is absolutely gorgeous!!

This is 2 coats with base coat and top coat. Gosh I could just stare at my nails for forever!! I think that it is darker on my nails than it is in the bottle..

:) Thanks for stopping by and reading, I hope you enjoyed!!

Hard Candy- Beetle

Hi guys!!
So today I have a very unique polish swatch for you all. I live in a small town and apparently this is one of the "harder to find" polishes in bigger cities, but since I live in a small town I can just run to Walmart and snatch this up! And that's what I did :) So, with that being said.. I give you Hard Candy Beetle!
This is one of THE prettiest polishes I own. I absolutely love it!!

This unique polish is a duo-chrome that shifts from a pink to an orangey to a green, although every time I look at it I find a new color!! Here I have 4 coats and a top coat. I think it would still look the same even if you layered it over black. Anyways, here are some pictures to show the duo-chrome shifting.

Isn't it to die for!!! I could stare at it all day!! This was my first Hard Candy polish and I am 100% satisfied! I really like the small brush and the application was amazing..no problem at all :)

I would definitely recommend this polish to anyone! Hope you enjoy!!

China Glaze - I'm Not Lion and Exotic Encounters

Hey guys!! I'm really sorry I haven't posted lately..I have been really sick. Anywho, I'm back! Today I have two polishes from the China Glaze On A Safari 2012 collection! I fell in love with both of these colors!! Ok..first will you please excuse the totally awkward hand position and the blurry-ish picture..the lighting wasn't the best and I really wanted to get a picture before the mani chipped because i had been wearing it for a little while before I decided to take pictures.

Here I have two coats of Exotic Encounters with a top coat, and two coats of I'm Not Lion with topcoat on the accent nails. I absolutely love both of these.
Exotic Encounters is a dark emerald cream. Application was excellent and very smooth.
I'm Not Lion is a gold glitter with bits of  holographic glitter within.  Application was great, opaque in two coats, although I used two coats of topcoat to smooth out the chunky glitter.

Do you see all the holo-y goodness?!?!
I would recommend these polishes to any one!!

Again..I apologize for the quality of the pictures and for my awkward hand!!

Hope you enjoy and be waiting for more posts..I have many in mind!!

China Glaze - Fast Track

Hey! So today I have a color from the China Glaze Hunger Games 2012 collection! I was a little skeptical when I bought this..but it has turned out to be a favorite of mine :) Fast Track is a gold shimmer-y color :)

Here I used O.P.I's Original Nail Envy as a base coat. Then I used two coats of Fast Track and then Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri top coat.
